You need to create an Stereo AUX track(or stereo Audio) and send your audio outputs from the drum machine to it. You will all need to connectanother midi cable - ----- Digi's out to Drum machine's in so that the midi data that you record can be sent back to your drum machine.

you need to connect the audio out of your drum machine to audio in on your 001, and assign that as the input of your AUX track.

NO AUDIO GOES THROUGH THE MIDI CABLES.

The MIDI in and out on the drum machine are just like the MIDI in and out on ANY synth module with a built-in sequencer.

optymusblu,
Did you get it going? I wanna make sure you do.
Remember, it's Midi cable out of drum machine to Midi in on Digi box...and Midi cable in on drum machine to Midi out on Digi box.

Then you need 2 RCA cords from your drum machine Left and Right plugged into Digi box 3&4(or 5&6, 7&8).
That's the cord hookup.

Then create a Stereo Aux track in PT, and assign it's inputs(on it's fader) to the same inputs you plugged your RCA cords in the back of the Digi box.(3&4 or whatever).

Then create some Midi tracks, say 4. On each one, assign it it's own Digi channel (for this, on each Midi fader, click and hold the button just above the 'Read'/automation button...there you'll see 'Digidesign', and assign Ch.1,2,3,etc.).
On each Midi fader is a Program button that opens a list of program #'s. It is just to the right of the 'Rec' button, with 2 small squares. This is where you can assign different Program/sounds within your midi device to each Midi fader.
I don't know what drum device you're using, so I can't be specific beyond this.
But, this should just about get you there. Feel free to post back with questions.

Hello All,

I have a question: I have a Boss DR-550 mkII drum machine, but it only has midi in. Is there a way I can connect this drum machine to pro tools? I don't know much about midi, but it seems that I would have to use Pro Tools to trigger the drum machine...

Thanks,
Mat
