If i create a mono track, called 'Guitar' for example, but decide I want to change that track to a stereo track, how do I do this?

It's particularly frustrating because I've created a template with blank drum tracks, and a few of the audio files for different songs which im making new projects for are stereo, so I'm having to create a new stereo track and route it all back through my buses which takes a while. In Logic there's a button at the bottom of the track in mix view, which I can click to change from stereo to mono.

I can't seem to find a way online, every time I google I'm met with topics about splitting mono audio tracks to stereo etc, this isn't what I mean!
The only way I know of is to insert a mono/stereo plugin. That will change it to 2 channels, and you can now treat it like a stereo track. You can then consolidate it if you want.

Say for example the first file he drags from the Workspace creates a stereo audio track. He then digs through his sample/FX library and finds a mono file that he wants to use, he cannot drop that mono file in the stereo track.

Abelton, for example, allows you to drag any file to any track.
If you drag and drop a file from the workspace into the section on the left that can be hidden (I don't remember the name) it will automatically create a new track on the edit and mix windows.
