Default Help Please pt8 mbox mini dreaded 6086 error

I have been scouring the forums and i am still having trouble getting any record or playback beyond a few seconds without the 6086 error. I have the requisite second firewire hd with a oxford 911 chipset at 7200 rpm. Also have tried on vista home sp 1 and xp pro sp 3 on a separate HD that I swap out. I know that I have a dell xps notebook duel core 1.83ghz, all drivers current. A lot of people seem to be having this issue with little resolution. I don't mean to be presumptuous but i have played with buffers, tried about 40 tweaks, tied all ports and meet all stated specs as far as all my reading suggests. I would really appreciate any help with this. I will check often l left anything out i will be glad to go into more detail. Thanks.

SiSoftware Sandra

Did you switch off the network adapters?
Do you have a sd card reader in this machine? If Yes, they are usually connected via the USB port. That may cause the problem.

Sometimes, if you don't have two identical RAM sticks, your Ram will not be addressed in dual mode, i. e it will be slower.

"FireWire/1394 Controller/Hub : RICOH OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller"

This is NOT a Digidesign approved firewire controller. There is a workaround in the Knowledgebase, but YMMV. You need an approved firewire controller in the computer (TI chipset) as well as the approved chipset in the external enclosure.

Cheers,

Glad to hear it, think about the controller if you get into any further trouble.
