Default 6086 error with my Mbox mini

Hey guys, this is my first post but I have a problem that maybe someone can help me with. First let me say that I know there are countless numbers of (-6086) related posts on this site, and I have spent days reading them all trying to find a solution to my problem. I think my problem is a little different from anything I have read yet. I keep getting the 6086 error when I try to change the settings on a plug-in while the track is being played. I run ProTools 7.4, I have an Mbox mini as well as a Maxtor external firewire hard drive, and I run this with a Dell Inspiron 9400 laptop. Here's the deal. I brought my computer, hard drive, and Mbox over to a friend's house to work on a project. He has a Digi002 board. I plugged that into my firewire port just for kicks and all of a sudden the 6086 error stopped coming up. I unplugged the 002 and hooked up my Mbox mini back to the computer and I started getting the error again. I have tried everything that I know how to do. I have disabled the wi-fi and the ethernet ports. I have checked for compatibility issues. I have edited the startup programs so that there is the least amount of junk running in the background as possible. I have done all that I know to do and I still get that error...until I get rid of the mini and plug up the 002. I even plugged up his Mbox mini just to see if maybe there was something wrong with mine and it still gave me an error. Could that be the reason why it doesn't work? I don't understand why the interface I use would make that much of a difference. Any thoughts would be great.

Thanks so much for all of your help.

Chris
