Default ASIO predicament

I have a screen capture file of a little window that pops up when ProTools® stops and says, "ASIO device properties have been changed by the device control panel. Pro Tools must be restarted for these changes to take effect. Please restart Pro Tools."

I need to know how to get an image from my computer to this post I need to know how to stop Pro Tools from stopping and displaying the little window described above.
Thank you for reading this.

Take a screenshot of the popup and use the paperclip icon on the top row when starting a new post. Use that clip and choose the place where you have the photo, upload and close window and post the message.

If you want help with getting rid of that popup and error then we need much more info so start here.

One detail that usually helps on Windows(and is often a MUST) is to go into Control Panel>Sound>Properties and set Windows to NOT use your Pro Tools interface as the default playback device

It's a common error. Usually another app is trying to access the audio device. PT is extremely unforgiving of anything else using it while it is running.

If on Windows, here are some thoughts: You might want to try turning off your system sounds, and if possible use a different audio device for anything that isn't Pro Tools. Also, on my system I found the PT is much happier if you go into your device properties and set the default sample rate to 48K, at least for me, since many of my projects are at 48K.

I will resist the temptation to go on a rant about Avid's ASIO implementation, except to say that is is "very particular".

Like this?

It's an HP Z230 w/Windows 7 64bit
The CPU is Xeon (R) E3-1225 v3 @3,2GHz. It has 8gigs of RAM and two 500 gigabyte hard drives.

It is connected via USB to the UA Apollo Twin. I downloaded that Sandra lite program if you need that too.

thank you -- Peter

I have the system sounds shut off. The notion that another app is trying to use the ASIO is good. I'll see if I can investigate that idea.

Don't just disable the sounds, disable the interface. Open Control Panel, Sound, on the Playback tab, right click any outputs that are part of your interface and select "Disable", on the recording tab, right click any inputs that are part of your interface and select "Disable".

Thanks Joel. I have two speaker systems: The monitors for protools which are wired to the Apollo Twin and the little speakers that are plugged into the headphone jack on the computer.
