Digi 003 board has no stand-alone mixer feature?????
Hey guys, I just got a digi 003 board. Ive been using the digi 002 board for years and one main function I used it for was as a digital mixer in stand alone mode. I just hooked up my digi 003 and I am now nervous because I do not see this feature available anymore. I looked online and apparently digidesign has removed the standalone mixer feature. So what do I do??? How do I use this to route my signals for my instruments without opening pro tools? Am I screwed or what do you think I can do? I am fearful that I have to get rid of this thing now even though I just got it today. If I cannot use it as a mixer somehow, WITHOUT opening pro tools, then I will have to go back to my digi 002... help!

Sadly, the stand alone feature was dropped on the 003. The only audio that will pass without Pro Toools open is the AUX inputs(using the AUX to Mon button).

damn man, that sucks so bad... now I have no choice but to get rid of this 003 when I just got it today.. the standalone mixer is not a feature I can live without, unfortunately...

Nope you got it right. The 003 does sound better and can used as a MIDI controller for 3rd party apps if its any consolation. I hung on to my 002 until I need word clock. I miss the standalone feature-If I wanted a standalone MIDI control surface I would buy one. It would be nice to see a 004 bring Standalone Mode back. You might prefer a Mackie iSeries mixer and MPowered over the 003
