Default Crazy 002R, Samplerate/Logic Pro problem

Disclaimer:
I'm aware this is the digidesign forum so please don't have a go @ me for asking something that involves logic. Thanks.

I'm using logic pro and i'm attempting to get the output from my audio tracks to go out of my 002R, simply for monitoring purposes for the time being till i take them into tools and mix.
But I now have a crazy problem. I've got my output set as the 002 but for some reason its gone all iffy with the sample rate. It thinks that the wave i've imported is 22036,22056,22047 and various number around that when i play it back (definitly @ 44). This sample rate discrepency makes the sound also comes out an octave too low with nasty digital distortion on it. Can someone tell my why my 002 isn't playing nicely?

BTW the exact message in logic i'm gettin upon playback is:

Error while trying to synchronize audio and MIDI.
Sample rate 22056 recognized. (changes every playback)
Check conflict between Logic Pro and external device.

Please help or i've wasted a lot of cash on my 002R!

Is there a setting in the DIGI core audio screen for sample rate? Maybe it's set to 96K or something?

When you first start Logic and select the DIGI core audio driver all the settings need to be the same between Logic and Core audio. After that you can make changes in the Audio Driver section of Logic that will translate to the DIGI core audio window.

Hope this helps.

what core audio version are you using? 6.4 was more stable with it however you can get it to work with 6.5 i have.

make SURE, SURE, SURE your sample rates are set correctly. try setting the 002r at 512 in the Core Audio Manager. When you start up Logic set to the same. on some of the Core Audio Manager releases this the 002r does not automatically get set to whatever Logic has inside it.

if you can tell us more about your machine, OS version, Logic version, Core Audio Manager Version... it will help

FYI i am running:
OS X 10.3.5
Logic 6.4.2
Core Audio Manager 6.5

I have no idea why but setting both of them @ 512 solves the problem. Thanks for all the help kids.
Its a really strange method. I don't understand exactly the point of the digi coreaudio manager. I thought its sole function was to allow other programs to run @ the same time as tools. Am I wrong? As you might have guessed i've only just bought my 002R and tools so i'm still all a little bewildered.

np i had the same problem but for a bit and couldn't explain it. somewhere along the line i installed the latest Core Audio Manager and poof it seemed to pick up the changes (samplerate wize) that i made in my logic preferences. can you set the rate to 256 now?

if you have connected audio devices, i.e. iTunes or something that first sets the audio sample rate. you will have to make sure that when you launch Logic you are in sync. this means manaully opening the Audio Hardware prefs and checking against what the Core ausio manager has listed.

hope this helps...
