Default Does Big mean Loud?

Hi, I'm looking around for a drive and wondering if the bigger they get (in GBs), the louder they get (in that crunching sound or spin)
I've got an old mattress in front of my CPU to keep the noise off the recordings in my cellar (does studio sound better? but am scared of having to soundproof more and heating things up.
Does a quality drive (like the barracuda) make less noise than cheaper drives (like the medalist)?
Thanks for any advice
imi
