Default Slate urges against early odoption of new MacOS.

Just got an email from Slate saying that there are some issues with the new MacOS coming out next month (Catalina) and to hold off for a while.
I wonder what these issues could be and if they will affect other software developers as well?

Native Instruments sent out a warning not to upgrade either.

I have NEVER understood why the rush to change OS? I usually wait until a dot four or dot six release so its stable and as bug free as possible. It’s not as if terrorists are out to launch our intercontinental ballistic HDX cards against us all.....maybe people are frightened that now that toaster and fridges are on the networks that civilisation may end?

I'm also pretty sure we won't be seeing Catalina-compatible PT this year either. With that said I would be glad to be proven wrong

I'd say at least a year for full Catalina compatibility. What scares me is if/when Avid does announce Catalina compatibiity they change the lower limit for OSX compatibility to other than Sierra.

This is pretty standard practice for new macOS builds, no? I always seem to get several of these from different companies in the months leading up to a release.

That's pretty much a given.

2019 -- oldest compatible 10.12
2018 -- oldest compatible 10.11
12.8 -- oldest compatible 10.10
12.7 -- oldest compatible 10.9

So unless there is Catalina support this year (not likely) we can assume 2020 requires 10.13 or later

That would leave me out. I run 10.12.6 on one boot partition and OSX 10.10.5 on the other. I've gone nuts trying to get answers to the question of: if I upgrade the Sierra partition to High Sierra with the firmware update that happens with HS what if anything will that do to my OSX 10.10.5 partition. I need the latter so B4-II can be used.

Two partitions should not interact with each other -- when you update one, another should be left intact
