Default ilok problem, pro tools 8.0.4 will not launch

I have been using pro tools LE 8 for some time now and recently whilst trying to launch got the following Initializin error message
"The software requires installation of the interlok driver and a reboot before running. If you have not installed the Interlok drivers, please download the latest installer from www.paceap.com, run the installer and reboot your system."

I downloaded the latest drivers uninstalled the ones that were on my system and then installed the latest updates and rebooted the system. When I went to launch pro tools I got the same message. I have checked and the latest drivers are on my system. I also went to my ilok account and ensured that it saw my ilok and that the licenses were all active. All were good.
I am able to run other software in standalone mode which require a license that are on the same ilok (eg EastWest piano)

I have repeated the above process twice and still having the same error.

I am running this on a PC with Windows XP SP2, With PT 8.0.4

Any advice greatly appreciated

Pro Tools LE doesn't require an iLok to authorize.

"The software requires installation of the interlok driver and a reboot before running. If you have not installed the Interlok drivers, please download the latest installer from www.paceap.com, run the installer and reboot your system."

Could be a clue here.

Cheers,

I have installed the latest interlok drivers and rebooted and I'm still getting this error message. I'm totally at a loss how to solve this and fed up with pro tools.
I can't launch the program and so can do nothing. I'm very frustrated so any help greatly appreciated

Are you using Internet Explorer as your browser? If so, what version? There is an issue with IE8, PACE and Pro Tools. See the Tech Alert in the "Stickies" at the top of this forum. You should probably also update XP to SP3. Although I don't think that's an issue, you never know. Just have a back-up plan, like Acronis True Image, so you can easily go back.

Cheers,

As The Weed has already mentioned, PT8 does not use the iLok for authorization. The combination of an Digidesign/Avid interface with a serial number is what is needed to authorize Pro Tools versions 8 and below.

However, from memory Pace anti piracy files are installed when installing Pro Tools. In Control Panel>Programs, there should be a 'License Support' entry with PACE Anti-Piracy,inc as publisher showing.

Also Microsoft Visual C++2005 Redistributable must be installed.

These files are normally installed with the installation of Pro Tools. It is possible that they may have been corrupted therefore need to be re-installed.

I would be inclined to use the Uninstaller app on the PT installer disk to un-install PT then reboot and re-install Pro Tools. Do so with the MBox switched off and leave it off throughout installation.

Once PT is installed, reboot with Mbox switched on.

Hi There, Thanks a million for your responses, sorry I was away at a couple of gigs.
Unfortunately, I still have not resolved this. I uninstalled and updated the interlock drivers, rebooted and still got the message that drivers need to be installed for authorisation. I then uninstalled pro tools from the disk and reinstalled. I then got this message
"The Software requires installation of device driver TPkd and
a reboot before running. Please reboot or install the software"
I have checked my system and it sees the ilok, the interlok drivers are installed and updated. I have been on to Pace and Ilok and this is the response I gor from them
"If a license that is on your iLok is not authorizing the associated software, please contact the software developer of the software you are attempting to use for further information on the use and authorization of their product.

Your iLok is being recognized by iLok.com which indicates a perfectly functioning iLok and drivers.

Understand that the software developers are the only ones capable of licensing their products. PACE merely builds the infrastructure for the software publishers to distribute their products in the way that is consistent with their licensing terms."

Any advice greatly appreciated

FYI - I am not using IE I use Firefox
Sorry for such a long post and thanks again for your help

Hi
Yeah, ilok do have my information and all my licenses and have confirmed that it is working. Actually I can launch other virtual instruments (which require an ilok verification) in stand alone mode.
I double checked this by uninstalling the interlok driver and trying to launch some vst's in standalone and with the they didn't launch. When I reinstalled the drivers and rebooted, they launched perfectly.
But then I try pro tools and get the above error message!

This is irrelevant because as stated, PT8 does not use/need ilok for authorization.

BTW Another thing to try is download and install XP Service pack 3.

Thank you for coming back to me. I just checked and actually it is Windows XP service Pack 3 that is installed.
