Default Think about switching who owns a new mac

I am feed up with my laptop. Its a dell, the chipset is compatilble and all that b.s. but no matter what I cant stop the buffer errors. So I think I am going to just go ahead and buy a mac. Who own the newest of the mac family. The core 2 dou. I see on the digidesign website they are not yet given the thumbs up. So I ask checking before I pick one up.

I got a new 2 gHz Intel duo core i-Mac with 2 gigs of RAM. I've had it for about ten days now running a 002R and have not had any issues. However, I have not really pushed it hard yet.

The new Macs are really nice!

Before you go and spend a chunk of change on a new laptop, what kind of problems were you having with the Dell?

Perhaps I can help you deal with some of the errors?

Peace,

I also used a Dell with my 002 and had an awful experience with buffer errors galore.

I now have a 24" imac core 2 duo with 7.1.1 and so far have fallen back in love with Pro Tools(I can actually use it now).

I'm verry happy I made the move.

Just purchased an iMac Core 2 Duo 20" with the 2.16 GHz, followed Digi's instructions for optimization and plugged my Digi 002R in. Haven't had any issues at all. Runs far better than my old Athlon XP rig. Ran through DAVEC II- Test 9 32 + 84, wasn't able to bounce file down. Then I got tired of running tests soooo... Anyway, it runs like a complete dream! Highly recommend it. Got the LaCie 250 D2 Firewire Drive. Now if I can get my fingers to make Mac shortcuts and not Window's shortcuts I'll be stylin'! Makin' Music and Very Happy!

I use a G5 2.0 dual for my 002R and I have also used my MacBook Pro with it. Both are very stable with no issues. I would never use anything but a Mac with PTs as PCs can be just too unstable, user error or not.

Make the switch you won't regret it!

17' 2Gb MacBook Pro (CoreDuo) and original Mbox and 002, Very nice-no errors so far.

I have both Pee Cees and the MacBook. I am beginning to actually trust a computer again.......

I would definitely recommend the Mac in the notebook realm.

I did do research here and it was driving me crazy.

One guys laptop would getting 48 tracks and the next guys laptop wouldn't even launch Protools even though they had the same exact laptop....the next guy would be getting blasts of noise or errors, all on the same model machine.

Hot fix this, Change HAL that. Blah Blah Blah

Bought a Mac , every thing worked out of the box.

End of story.
