Live bass transformation
A lot of the reggae stuff I get into has a sub bass sound but sounds like it's played live. What techniques can achieve this.
My geuss is they just filter and eq and maybe use something that adds low freq's like an octave doubler or sub oscillator. But my main question for posting is can you DI a bass guitar and transform it into a synth bass sound. Is this what guitar synthesizers do. |

Re: Live bass transformation
you can get "deep sound" out of a real bass for example an 5 string.maybe that low b-string is helping you out ???
turn all the treble out and you will get a smoth sounding "synthie" sound a like bass. having a midi converter just makes the playing different.means you can either trigger it with a keyboard or with the bass. does nothing to the basic sound just they way you can play it. what makes it although sound " deeper" is if you double the kicks with a deep "synthie sound" and layer the original bass ( for not making it sound like midi ) hope that helps you a little bit ??? |

Re: Live bass transformation
Go demo a bass Pod - It's got some amazing sub sounds. It's also got a synth sound. If you use the Sound Driver with it you'll get a much wider range of settings.
