\"H/W buffer size\" pop-up problems
I own an Mbox and run it with an Acer Notebook (1682 - 1.6Ghz, 2MB cache, 400Mhz FSB, 768MB RAM, 60GB HD, service pack 1), and I've encountered a recurring problem with PT 6.4.
I keep getting two pop-ups regularly during playback and recording which say either of the following: "The operating system held off interrupts for too long. If this occurs often, try increasing the "H/W buffer size" in the playback engine dialog (-9093)" or "Audio processing is conflicting with other CPU tasks. If this occurs often, reducing the "H/W buffer size"... (-9129). No matter how many times I adjust, the pop-ups return minutes later, sometimes suggesting I increase the H/W buffer size when i can increase it no more! I've followed the suggestions for setting up my system in the manual (disabled screensavers, internet & networks, virus software, adjusted all powers settings to ON ALL THE TIME, etc), and I'm running the computer with Pro Tools only. I'm out of ideas what to change or adjust. Any suggestions? Cheers. |

Re: \"H/W buffer size\" pop-up problems
Well... you've tried tweaking those configurations all you can. You're hitting the limits of your computer's capacities... Not much you can do other than take away some plug ins, merge tracks, etc... Or just buy some real expensive computer..

Re: \"H/W buffer size\" pop-up problems
I've been running into the exact same problems. I've got an Acer Aspire 2010... 1.5 GHz Centrino 512 Mb of ram, and all the settings done just right.
The most I've been able to get is 20 minutes on 1 track. I'm not sure what the problem is but i think it might be an incompatibility between the chipset in this computer and the mbox. I was emailing with a guy that has the same computer but the 002 rack and he said that he's not having the same problem. So i think it might have something to do with the hardware/software combination that simply isn't working. |

Re: \"H/W buffer size\" pop-up problems
Eventhough you said you turned off "internet", make sure that includes disabling all Wireless LAN adapters. My compaq laptop did that all the time until I turned the wireless card completely off.

Re: \"H/W buffer size\" pop-up problems
Is the Siig card a card that would be compatible with a laptop, or is it strictly a desktop-oriented card?

Re: \"H/W buffer size\" pop-up problems
HI, i have a laptop, not a desktop, it is a PCIPMA card, or what ever it is called, i had an internal card, which worked fine, then the actual port broke, so i was sent a BelkIN card, which caused loads of grief, and i broght a siig one, which is reccommended, and all was ok.
it cost me 40 quid, the adaptec one was 70 quid
