Pro Tools 12 is so much better than Pro Tools 11.

I think it may well come down to the individuals installation of the software :

Some people uninstall the old version, and do a clean install of the new version.

Some people install the new version straight over the old version.

Some people seem to have a good luck day, where a software installation just seems to work perfectly.

Some people seem to have a bad luck day, where a software installation just doesn't quite seem to work perfectly.

My guess is they're essentially the same.


I'll give Pro Tools | First a go, when it is released, as it is possible to dual install along side PT11.

If it works well, and if Avid deliver on their promises by the end of 2015, I may well upgrade for year 1.

They'll have to stay true throughout the following years, for me to continue remaining up to date.

I trust Pro Tools Expert more than Avid. I trust what I see.
I don't care abt "Some ppl", I do care about what Avid can provide us beside SH*T!

It is faster for me. Startup on 11 was way slow 12 is much quicker. I think the problem is Avid claims you can have two versions if they are all after 10 but performance suffers if you don't remove all traces of the old version.
It still depends on whether you set it up correctly.

So you're saying I have to ditch 10 in order to make 12 faster? That makes zero sense. These are two completely separate installations. And my 11 runs great at the moment, side by side with 10. At this point there is zero reason for me to upgrade, on the contrary.

I believe actual tests like what was shown in the video. If it's faster for others, I would love to see some proof. It's easy to state it's faster, let's see it.

Not slow here! It's "Initializing Midi Engine" by the time I look up from the task bar. I can change plugins on the fly with nary a glitch in audio or visual performance while a session is playing. I like it!

Just loaded up a 12+ track session of "Butterflies" from Sweetwater stems along with the corresponding 720p MP4 video from Youtube imported into the session, plus plugins for the audio and the video played perfectly even expanded out to cover 75% of the monitor. Working great here.

There is some possible issues here as SSD's for instance will cache the most frequently used data for even faster response times. Were they both launched once before the test to get the sessions in PT cache?? There is some easy ways to fudge this test. Also depending on your workflow, not having the "I/O's changed" window pop up evey time you launch a session counts as time also which is a biggie for me.

The title of this thread is aso false. It should read "launch time slower" as that's all this is checking
