Default New 003 rig

Hi,

I'm planning to buy a new Protools 003 rig.
Wondered if you could chime me in on what mac to pick?
Imac or Mac mini? Fusiondrive or SSD only?
Are Fusiondrives noisy?
The rig will only be used for feature film dialogue and foley editing.
Thanks!

Is there a specific reason you want to use a 003, especially if you're mainly doing editing, and thus don't need all of the I/O?

You mentioned buying "new", which means it will come with Protools 8, which won't work on any new Macs you're thinking about. You'd have to pay $400 to upgrade to PT11 to be compatible with the Macs. And since PT9, you can use any interface.

Or is it specifically the control surface features (of the console version)?

Quad Core i7 Mac Mini would be the cheaper option while still giving you a good bit of processing power.
