Default Is this the 002 Power Harness issue ?

Hi!

I've been trying to read up on the old power harness issue, but think that I may not have all information to decide if it is the problem I have.

A little while ago, the 002 just froze, it doesn't respond in any way. After turning everything off, it suddenly worked again for a few weeks, but now again it suddenly froze again and won't wake up.

It doesn't start up in Stand Alone mode either, FireWire conncted or dis-connected.
If I restart the 002 with fire wire connected, the green light is on for a second.
The display above the channel strips shows small dots in different places.

Is this the power harness symptoms? Or is this another problem? Without knowing much about it, it resembles som sort of boot/firm ware error.

Regards,
- Joakim W

Sounds like it to me. If you re-seat all the connections inside, you may be good for another 6 months. Just be methodical. Remove the bottom panel slowly and note where the plastic connectors attach to the power supply(which is attached to the bottom panel). Disconnect those and set the panel aside. Take each plastic connector(one at a time) and unplug/replug a few times to clean the oxidation from the metal parts. I seem to remember unscrewing the pcb with the midi jacks to get at one of the connectors but it may not be required to get you up and running. All those plastic connectors have a locking tab so you may need a small screwdriver to release the locking feature.

Hi!

Thanks for the update - good to know what has happened to it.
I'll check if I can get hold of a spare unit, or see if there is a way I can clean it as you describe.

Cheers,
- J

Hi,
forgot to update.
The issue has been resolved (a long time ago), worked just fine to disconnect and make sure the
connections are clean, I guess it is a none-documentet maintenance duty from now on

Cheers,
- J
