Default Pro Tools 2018 slowdown and skate plugins

Hi FOLKS.First post on the forum. Running PT 2018.3. I7 CHIP, 16 gigs Ram.
PT has been very stable, but ever since I installed the slate VMR Demo, to get Revival, it’s been slow to load and very slow to fully close. I inactivated the VMR plugin on only track in a session and it did open quicker, but still very slow to shut down. Would hate to inactivate or uninstall the plugin, as I’m waiting out the demo period to get revival free. It’s the only way to get it.
So, both general and specific question. Do users find specific plugins slow their PT 2018 and specifically, have others had same problems with the slate VMR?
thanks in advance
SK

Yes, I did find some plugins to drag Pro Tools slow so I eliminate them. One of them was Slate Virtual Rack...or what ever it's called.

I don't have a plugin I cannot live with, everything is replaceable. But it's important to me Pro tools to run stable as a rock because it's the center piece of my studio.

Yes, some plugins can slow down the computer but Slate plugins are overall well optimized. I too have their free stuff (Revival, Trim and The Monster) and they work fine here. What are your system specs?

Thanks for the responses. I have win 10 Lenovo legion, 16 gigs RAM,, i7 chip. Brand new machine, PT 2018.3
The only other plugin I ever have problems with are ez drummer 2. It gets weird if I try to open it on more than one track per session.
I also just noted that when opening a session that just hung, I restarted the PC and it improved. Perhaps that is something I should do more. I have a 256 SSD, and a 2TB internal, but don’t place my sessions on the IS drive. Just trying to figure out if I should deactivate or uninstall slate VMR, but I love the Revival plugin. Any other thoughts, please send them along. I greatly appreciate it.

Emu,
Thanks. I just checked out optimizing. I’ve seen it mentioned on other occasions that getting rid of those preferences was recommended. Guess I’ve been superstitious and didn’t want to messbwith anything. Is it safe to do?

Anagras,
Thanks. I’ve seen previous recommendations to delete thecoreferences, but was too superstitious. Is it safe?

I have the Slate Everything bundle and it does not slow down PT 12 or 2018 on my setup. that said, the first time I load a VMR plugin in a session it does take a few seconds to initialize. maybe 5-8 sec... after that it's as fast as any plugin.

Climber,
Thanks. I’ll try clearing preferences and just see what happens.
If you have any ideas, feel free to pass them along. I know that it took a lot of hassle, just to register the VMr demo. I think Steven slate sent me a long list of things to do. I wasn’t going to go through it all for one channel strip, but updating my ilok software eventually got it installed.
Who knows? Guess it just might not play nice with my setup.

you should call Slate Support. they can log into your system and make sure that everything is all set up the way it's supposed to be for optimum performance.
