002 Preamps Died PT LE 8 Replacement Ideas?

I have Pro Tools LE 8.0.4 and a Digi 002. The pre-amps on my 002 are just about totally GONE, so I need to get a new set of mic pres.

I just upgraded to LE8 just before 9 was released. So upgrading again to LE 9 and THEN going out and buying a new pre/pro is NOT an option at the moment.

Am I stuck with Digi or M-Audio only or can I use Focusrite Saffire Pro 24 DSP or MOTU?

I think they got fed up with the music he was putting through them so they have been gradually leaving and the last one is just about out the door.

Funny! Since you own PT8, I would go shopping for a used 003r. Finding one without software(which you already have) should make it pretty affordable. Or just grab an 8 channel lightpipe preamp and plug into the lightpipe input of the 002. Presonus D8 is about the best bang for the buck.

Also. If your handy you might want to open the unit up and re seat any connectors. Theres a lot of ribbon cable in these things and the connections can and do get funky.

Losing the 4 Pres in the 002 IS not a common issue.

Make sure the pad button is not on engaged and that they are not set to line.
