Default (-9073) error while recording

I use a 002 R with a g4 OS 10.3.9. I’m receiving an error while trying to record that says
“DAE can’t get audio from the driver(s) fast enough. Your drive may be to slow or fragmented, or a firewire drive could be having trouble due to the extra firewire bandwicth or CPU load. (-9073)”

I don't really know what that means. I was wondering if anyone did or have any suggestions about how to stop this from happening. Thanks.

Default Re: (-9073) error while recording

how many tracks on what kind of drive at what sample rate?

Usually the error is literal. If it has slowly crept up over time then your drive is likely too fragmented to keep up and it is time to backup, reformat the drive and then restore the data. As a temporary fix, you could try raising the DAE buffer to level 4 in Setups>Playback Engine. If fragmentation is too severe this will not help much however.

FWIW, according to Drive Savers drives will fragment up to 4x faster once they are above 50% capacity.

hope this helps,
