Default The selected audio device could not be initialized. AAE 6117 error?

Interface: Universal Apollo Quad
PC: Windows 10 Pro
Pro Tools: 12.4

Whenever I try to load up PT I get the error: "The selected audio device could not be initialized. Please choose another audio device."

Then when I hit "OK", I get: "AAE error -6117 was encountered"

If I hit "OK" again, it sends me back to the first error and it cycles through those two errors indefinitely.

Tried hitting "N" at launch to bring up the audio device menu, no dice.

Used Trasher to delete prefs and all that good stuff, nothing.

Never had this issue until today, sound is still coming through my Apollo in other apps fine, just won't let me use it in PT. I haven't installed or uninstalled anything recently, so that's not what's causing the issue.

I installed ASIO4ALL and it works if I use my Apollo through that, but then I can't get audio if I'm trying to watch a movie/YouTube/anything else (which I do frequently while editing) so if I HAVE to I'll use ASIO4ALL, but I'd rather get this issue fixed.

Sandra report to follow in next post!

UPDATE #2: I fixed it!

On the Windows toolbar I had to go to Playback devices - make sure the Apollo was enabled

Then I went to the Recording devices - made sure the Apollo was disabled

This caused Pro Tools to recognize the Apollo, and I can still play sound from iTunes/Spotify/etc.!

Hope this helps anyone having the same problem!

I had the same problem, I was able to open the audio playback interface by pressing "N" only when I opened Pro Tools as an Administrator. I hope that helps.
