Default A compressed question !!!!

Ok!
Here i go again!

When i use an external compressor(Blue max)(exelent!) in pro tools the return signal is really hot but in the good way and i saw that i
can really push the output of the comp.
And the input fader don't clip. And the dynamics still there clearly good.

But when i make the same internally with the digidesign compressor if i push the output
gain there is the clip adn the dynamics fly away. There is something that i made wrong?
Did the plugin is not supossed to work like
the real one?

I have tried a lot of compressor settings.
Please Help with some tips .

Other question is my mixing drum.
Ok i use 7 microphones to rec the drums.
When i rec all.I made an stereo auxiliary track
and bus all the drum tracks to this aux track
to make the compression for the drum.

Thanks!

Default Re: A compressed question !!!!

Digi plug doesn't have an output level control,
only input(as you noticed),
and yes you are able to achieve more gain with output of stand alone compressor cranked.
But sometimes louder is percieved as better, wich might not be true if test was done with equal volume/loudness.
A good way to use your output level is to have it match the uncompressed level(bypass)
unless of course it's a live gig with an underpowered P.A.
and you need extra gain.
