Default Help! New PC crashes when PTLE launched!

Help please. I had a new PC built last week (P4, 3.2GHz, 1024MB RAM) and was able to install PTLE 6.4 okay and registered and activated my software. However, after a week of not touching the PC, I turned it on today and everytime I launch PT, the computer crashes to a shutdown. I have no idea what the problem could be, help please. I use Digi 001.

If it helps, when I installed PTLE/Digi001, I didn't alter any setting within the PC at all, I ust installed once the PC was built. Perhaps there were certain things I had to do, I don't really know.

Thanks.

What, am I notorious?

I should let you field this one J!

shacke, there are a couple of things that you did not mention that we need to know:
Which version of XP and which service pack?
Are you connected to the internet on that machine?
Do you have automatic updates turned on?
Have you downloaded and installed the 64cs6 plugin update and the 64cs9 program update?
Have you downloaded and installed the latest PACE Interlok Drivers?

Highly recommend reviewing the compatibility page for 001 as well as the General Troubleshooting thread

Thanks.

I am using Home Edition and have installed Service Pack 2 (come to think of it, I upgraded and updated after installing the PTLE - could this have a relevance?).

I am not connected to the internet on the machine, I updated the machine before I moved it into the studio.

I have not knowingly downloaded and installed the plug-in and update you mentioned, except they may have been downloaded as part of the Windows Update process?

I have not downloaded and installed those drivers either.

You need to. From the top of the 001 compatibility page: (actually ALL the compato pages)

if you encounter unexplained blue screens, freezes or spontaneous reboots when launching Pro Tools with Windows XP Service Pack 2, please update your PACE InterLok drivers:
Both of those 6.4 updates I mentioned are also highly recommended as they fix some pretty major bugs in the program.

Update - The system now works okay (seemingly), I installed the Interlok driver update as well the as the PTLE 6.4 cs9 update and at least PT now opens and I can open files, I haven't tried recording yet, but at least it's no longer crashing when I launch PT.

Thanks a lot for the help guys!
