Default Is there a better mp3 player?

I need to pick out an mp3 player to put on a website for examples of music. There are so many players out there- some for free, and some not. Is there any real difference besides looks? Are there any "louder" players? Is that even possible? I don't mind paying for one at all if there is a difference. I will be loading it with mp3s from protools sessions at a higher quality kb.
Any insight or specific brands would be appreciated.
