Apogee Symphony I/O Users w/ two IO cards, please help!
Hey guys,
Is anyone with dual IO cards actually working without this issue in PTHD mode? - 2nd card outs exhibit white noise. - All inputs work fine. - White noise is displayed on metering 2nd card outputs as well. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- About a year ago I got a second card for my first Symphony IO. As soon as I connected it and booted up PTHD I got white noise on each odd output on the second card (1,3,5,7). I called Apogee and their support had my try about a dozen things over nearly 5 hours on the phone, including swapping the cards to see if the issue followed the card, or whether it followed the slot on the mainboard. In the end, Apogee decided it was the mainboard, but since my unit was 30 days out of warranty it would be a very expensive repair and weeks of downtime. I decided to just put my AD16X back into service and sell the second card, since the Symphony worked great with a single card. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Just now (one year later) I got another Symphony I/O. A DIFFERENT 2nd card. SAME FREAKING ISSUE! White noise on every other output on the 2nd card. This is a different chassis, board, and card! Apogee also has no more phone support, which is pretty discouraging. - Different firmware doesn't seem to make any difference. - Even with nothing connected it still shows on the meters. - Only happens in PTHD mode. So, is anyone successfully running two IO cards in a Apogee in PTHD mode without this issue? |

Same computer?
The same PCIE slot? The slot shouldn't matter but it might be worth your time to swap it.

Yes to both. I'll try anything. Supremely discouraged at the moment.

I am Matt. I've got a 16 in 16 out Symphony I/O. I could check my cards for a revision number or letter possibly.

Actually, if you can just tell me the firmware version of your Symphony I'd appreciate it!
You have two 8x8 cards, then? Are either the ADAT/AES/EBU combo? Mine both work properly when there's only a single card installed. |

Anyone running 2 I/O cards successfully? Apogee chat support is pointing toward an external factor.

Re: Apogee Symphony I/O Users w/ two IO cards, please help!
Solved. The HD card itself (AVID) was the issue. I've swapped with the card from my other rig and both systems seem to be happy. Must be an issue with a revision, but, unfortunately I didn't take note of the revisions.
