Default Bouncing nightmare

Does anyone know the optimal settings for bouncing to disc? I'm attempting to bounce down my final mix of an 87min film and 9 times out of 10 I get the buffering overun error message. I've tried printing my plug-ins, hiding the tracks and QT window, adjusting the buffer levels to no avail. PT sometimes crashes during the bounce as well. I'm going insane and my director wants to kill me! Thanks.

Print the final output to an audio track and then export this new track rather than bouncing it. It is the only sure fire way you can get what you need. Are you using v6.4 with CS 6 & 9 installed? v6.7 with CS8 installed? Bounce problems should have been fixed in these versions.

If the bouce makes it all the way through before the error, chances are that the bounced file is fine. I've had this error happened before on a long bounce and the bounced audio was fine.

I'd record the final stereo to an Audio track if you really want to get this thing done. Just export it from your region window at whatever settings you need when it is done recording.

HI,

Also to the above try this:

- set the H/W buffer to maximum.
- increase the DAE Disk Level, too
- try REDUCING the maximum System Usage if yu are on single CPU (to give the System more time for it´s tasks)

- DON`T bounce to the same physical Harddisk your session is on.
- DON`T have the session on the same physical HD your System is on.

Hiding the track won´t do nothing, you have to DISABLE (Voice off) them.

If your sessions run well on playback try this:

select a BUS for all your tracks as output.
make a new Audio Track and select the BUS as Input.
RECORD.

Now you can safely export this track.
