Import audio Page is frozen

I have PT 7.4.2 LE, with OO2, Power Mac OS 10.5.6 quad core intel.
When trying to import audio: file>import> audio.... (or video for that matter)
My import audio page appears.. but then freezes.. can't select anything from the import page.. have to force quit PT.

Anyone have any solutions? I can't tell if this is a PT or Mac problem.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated

I import stereo audio tracks via:after project is created/opened, I go to view "workspace" select where the audio file is I want to import, then drag it into the project. That worked in 7.4.2cs2 and works just fine in 8 as well.

If you are receiving an error when trying to import, it could be the type of file?
I'm not sure..but I hope this helps at least for the time being.

Thanks for the reply. I also use workspace and should be able to drag audio from one file to another in workspace. However when trying to import from File>import>audio... and my page freezes.. It makes me think something is wrong.. I first noticed it today when trying to import video into a PT session. It has always worked in the past.. This will totally fry me when I am trying to load DP files into PT.

Any other suggestions? I mean the whole import page freezes and you have to force quit to even retreat

I thought the problem might have been a "Permissions" thing.. so I repaired permissions on my boot drive... I even re downloaded itunes (since the problem seemed to happen after I imported a movie to itunes..
