Default Pro Tools not recognizing iLok

Sometimes Pro Tools decides not to recognize the licenses on my iLok. Sometimes it will work if I try another USB port, but it's not consistent. A port that doesn't work one day will work on another day. It's a brand new MacBook Pro.

Here is a screenshot of Pro Tools not seeing licenses while the iLok License Manager clearly shows all my licenses on the iLok:

Thanks, I think that worked.

Well, the iLok stopped working on that USB port again. (Edit: I should say Pro Tools stopped recognizing it on that port. The License Manager does see it.)

I hadn't even removed it since the last time it DID work on that port.

So I just need to reset my PRAM every few days... great...

This is a random issue. When it happens, just unplug the ilok key and plug it in again...

Check your MAC and see if there's power management on the USB ports. It shuts the port off when it thinks it's not being used. Sounds like exactly what's happening.

This happens on one of my systems with USB3 hubs (2014 Mac MINI 10.9.4)
Plugging the iLok directly to the MINI USB3 port and all goes well.

Tried two different brands of USB3 powered hubs (Tripplight and Connectland from OWC)
Likely an OS 10.9x issue but still a killjoy....

Hey ergalthema, I'm getting the exact same issue as you. I'm running an early 2013 13" Retina MBP and I've had the issue on both OS X 10.8/10.9. It's driving me nuts...

I don't think it is related to NVRAM/PRAM - the ilok can work one minute, then you can close PT and reopen it and it just won't see it. I get the same dialogue window showing. If I open the ilok licence manager I can it there with all the licences present. I'm pretty sure the issue has to lie with PT somewhere.

The only way I deal with this is by working around it by swapping ports, force quitting PT when I know it's not going to pick it up, resyncing the ilok, then finally rebooting. Even after all that it is still temperamental.
