well, you`re right `bout that, but my laptop is also used for surfing and mailing when pro tools is not running. I`m not that rich to have 2 notebooks!! So I will need anti virus software to keep it clean....

Yeah, I can understand that
What I meant was you can disable your antivirus software when running Pro Tools... Don't forget to disable your network card to though! (and do it in the right order)

theres your problem Norton, a bs package with extreamly high overhead. i will never run norton on any system no one should have to put up with thats kind of overhead get decent software, personaly i use VET as it has a fairly low overhead

I use the free version of AVG and it works remarkably well. I even leave it running most times when using PT. (for serious mixes, I turn it off).

I 2nd the avg free. unlike norton, it isn't a resource hog. really, you don't even notice it's running. but I also turn it off and disable any background tasks it uses when working on a heavy project.

good luck!

And I third that reccomendation for AVG free edition. I've used it, and Symantec Corporate AV in the past without either giving PT any difficulties. I like AVG better now...it also seems to take up fewer resources.
