Default Need a little Advice PT 2018

Good Day Gents
Typically I spend 18 hours a day mixing in one of my 4 Rooms at our Facility..... But Lately I've been bailing early and try to get work done at home on my laptop a MacBook Pro 2018 running 10.13.6 with an I-9 and 32gb of ram 1TB SSD, I do not use an interface as PT 2018 doesn't require such a set up.... However I do use headphones for Mix Revisions, The Master Bus contains Sonarworks Ref 4 for Headphones and it was disabled prior to bouncing mix....as recommended..... But mixing in the Headphones has yielded results Something Terribly different than what I have in my mix Levels so far out of whack I can't put my finger on it... Do any of you guys use Headphones with a laptop for mix work professionally and Can you suggest my options
I would love to have a functional set up at home that's reliable and yielding good results that won't add an additional 3 hours of Corrections.... When bringing it up on mains in either studio.... How would you handle this.. I appreciate any Help in advance

Have you looked at Waves NX? Not so much the head tracking, but the room settings and EQ profiles provided for some headphone models. Check out the videos and it's on sale.

Thanks for the Reply Man,..... I use Sonarworks which is essentially the same thing as you mentioned, Its a corrective EQ or an Inverse EQ based on EQ curve of Over 200 headphone models, And yes I select the proper EQ curve for my headphones and Mix through it, and Disable before Bouncing, and Like I mentioned the results were completely different from what it does in my phones and required 3 hours worth of repairs on my Monitors in Studio A.... I need an accurate result, That's why I asked you guys for your suggestions

Are you using closed back or open back headphones? If the former, that’s probably why.

Try a pair of open backs and see if you get closer to the desired result.

Try NX (for free) and open up the room a little bit - may be more room than headphone eq.

I actually Picked up NX last night for 29.00 so that's a bonus, They don't have my Particular headphones as an EQ which are the AKG141 MKii they are a semi open back... So as an experiment I tinkered around with it with More Ambience and on a session what ever I had open at the time on my Laptop and the same Mix seemed non existent in the Low end... Which is the opposite of what I heard prior... My low end was so abusively loud and everything was Harsh sounding Not musical at all, upon a listen from the car on mix in question.... In NX My cymbals were brassy and almost surgical.... And Mids were spiking at 1.2 kHz, and almost no low-end... I found myself changing eqs across the board...but I did not print, I will get to a decent place with it tonight and try a test and see, but so far it's made me look at my Original choices and EQ decisions which I assume is a good thing... Stay Tuned!!

Yeah I'm gonna grab a pair of 702s from studio today and take em home and see what's happening on them... I noticed with NX with more ambience I lost Low end which is concerning because my Prior mix in question the Low end was Abusively over the top

I've found headphones to be even more of a personal preference choice than main monitors (as one would expect given how dependent they are on the specific shape of the user's ears), and presentation varies greatly; while you might correct for freq response with Sonarworks, image width, ambience vs center, apparent 'distance', etc all vary hugely between different models of headphones. I've never been fond of AKG's stereo presentation, but like I said, it's a personal choice. I'm currently finding Shure 1540s (closed) and 1840s (open) work well for me. Sennheiser HD650s are a popular open-back choice. You might also consider the Audeeze line.

IOW, just like (and even more so than) main monitors, you're gonna have to try a bunch of different phones before you find ones that work for you, and only then would I consider screwing around with plugins like the NX.
