Default Recording Banjo?

Anybody have any tips for recording Banjo? I''ll be doing it in a couple of weeks. I was thinking of approaching in the same I way I do with acoustic i.e SM57 or other dynamic close up and then a large diaphragm condenser back a few feet or further depending on how much room I want to pick up. the main difference with a banjo is of course the resonance of the drum head and how that will play into the equation. It will be important to pick up that "twang" but hmm I could imagine that the resonance when properly applied could get real sweet. I'll spend a few hours experimenting for sure.

Any tips? Mic combos? Thanks in advance.

I typically use a single 57, micing either under the bridge area or if the player is too active playing (lots of motion) then under where the neck meets the body, pointing toward the head of the body, similiar to how one would mic a snare drum.

a Condenser, with about 10% wet reverb...ohhh I get excited jus' thinkin about it...the sm57 could do the job fine, but I know for sure the condensor will work amazingly.Good luck.I ussed an inexpensive Audio Technica 3035.
