Default Do I really need to clean install 10.3.3?

A couple weeks ago I spent a few days straight overhauling my comp- upgrading to Mountaion Lion (clean install and manually moving old files/apps over) with a clean install of PT 10 (10.3.2). Now the 10.3.3 update is out, is it really necessary to completely uninstall PT, get the new version, and download ALL my plugins again? What risks are posed from updating only? I spent hours on this and am not really looking forward to having to do it all over again.

A clean uninstall will delete everything that will be reinstalled with 10.3.3. It will not take long and u will not have to do the complete overhaul.

Thanks for the response- what about my plugins? won't they all be deleted, and need to be downloaded, authorized, and installed?

Hi,

No, the only plugins it replaces are the included ones with pro tools, so any third party plugins that require separate auths are not affected!

Only thing you'll have to do is reset your prefs

Read the "help us help you" part. It's pretty simple and right there in the instructions. There is also an app for trashing them - google "trash preference app" and u will see.

I did a google search but the results directed me to files that don't exist for me- there's no databases folder in my digidesign app support or avid app support folders

also, the link in help us help you isn't working for me either

If my update checker within pro tools isn't recommending 10.3.3 and if on the "My Products" page on avid.com isn't showing it under the PT10 tab, should I not install it?

I am running PT10 on a 2011 MacBookPro with OS 10.8.2.

Seems like I'm a candidate.

edit: downloaded it and upgraded. Works great.
