Audio in mixer/bar not adjusting with volume knobs?

I'm very new so my problem is probably easily fixed but can't find any info on it here.

I'm trying to monitor the volume of my tracks so I can keep it within an acceptable range, but when I turn up/down the volume of the tracks, the meter doesn't move up/down with it? Why is this?

Actually disregard this thread, I just figured it out.
For anyone who's found this thread through google, go to Options and de-select 'Pre Fader Metering'.

And lets rename this thread... meter level not affected by fader position

definitely fader.. not "volume knob".
