Aggregate Interface Setup
Hi guys!
Look I find a million different opinions on this, but none are completely related to my situation. My line inputs on my Avid Elven Rack are not working, but I still want to use it as a reamp for my dry guitar tracks. Thus, I have routed my monitors BOTH from my interface (Steinberg UR44), and the 11R. I do not want to record these simultaneously, rather, I'd like to record my dry track through my steinberg, and then reamp through my 11R using it as an interface. Is it possible to either create an aggregate device, so I can use the inputs/outputs freely without switching playback engines? Or do I have to continuously change? Thanks a lot! Sam |

Re: Aggregate Interface Setup
If you're on Windows - and I assume you are since this is the Windows forum - no aggregate available, Mac only.

Re: Aggregate Interface Setup
Aggregate is a Mac-only feature. I would use the Steinberg as your interface and route audio out from there, thru the 11R and back into the Steinberg for re-amping.

Re: Aggregate Interface Setup
Thanks guys! Regretting my windows purchase. I'm solving the routing issue in a different thread. It appears my interface's dspMix application is causing a feedback loop.
Thanks guys! |

Re: Aggregate Interface Setup
It sounds like learning how to route and configure your devices along with routing properly in pro tools is the biggest problem.

Re: Aggregate Interface Setup
It's definitely tricky. I feel pro tools is one of the easier ones to route though. Aggregate device would have just helped give me more functionality. I wonder why windows can't achieve this.
All was solved on this issue. I muted my tracks in my dsp and that fixed the feedback loop. Routing wasn't the problem in this instance. |

Re: Aggregate Interface Setup
It's not Windows per-se it's old ASIO. Just not designed to do it.
Windows itself with non ASIO interfaces is more than capable of aggregating audio devices. Of course Pro Tools can't use them. ASIO4ALL lets you aggregate devices it's wrapping... maybe it even works at times. |
