What adats do you recommend.
I'm really starting to look into purchasing an adat and was wondering which one you guys would recommend?

Re: What adats do you recommend.
I recently considered selling my 2 adat lx-20s but I'm glad I didn't. Last sat. I went and recorded a country rock band and took 1 adat and a Mackie board. With a digimax and a couple of the mackie pre's ( Ihad to submix the drums) I got a pretty decent demo for this band. Point is, without a new laptop or m-box or whastever, they come in handy for remote recording.

Re: What adats do you recommend.
I'd have to agree that hard drive recording is quickly taking over the place of ADAT recording, but I'd also have to agree that the ADAT isn't becoming obsolete as quickly as might be imagined.
Because sample rates have shot up for HD work, and because any Tom, Dick, Harry, or whoever can get their hands on a computer and 2nd HD, it's indispensible. Still, even after the ADATs are no longer being marketed, I sincerely doubt that any/all studios are going to dump their decks into the good old recycle bin. They will still be around, and still be used. If you're considering getting an ADAT and have the cash, you might actually consider getting a used one (don't pay any more than $550), and getting your hands on a copy of the list of calibration and diagnostic procedures so that you can check the hours the unit has been used and if there are any current errors going on. Check an online bidding site or go to a retail store to see if they would be willing to part with a refurbished model or a floor model for a descent price. Alesis models are a staple, especially the 20-bit LX/XT models. Good luck, and I hope that this helps!

Re: What adats do you recommend.
another use for an ADAT is to use it as 8 extra inputs for your 001 (through lightpipe).
