i tunes error type 2

I have a new mac (1ghz dual processor) with the mix24 and 888 interface. Everytime I quit pro tools and try to start up itunes, itunes shuts down and gives me a type 2 error message . But if I reboot and don't ever open pro tools, it works fine. I suspect this has something to do with having the audio output assigned to the pro tools interface. any ideas on how to solve this problem?

That would work, but I would like to be able to hear the audio over my studio moniors.

Well then make sure you completely shut down ProTools before you open up ITunes, and that should work MOST of the time, but not ALL the time. Why don't you route you're macs audio output to you're mixer for quick checks. Sure the output will suck, but if you need to do critical listening ITunes then just temporarily switch your sound driver to Digi's.
