Default poor performance with kontakt2/002r PTLE 7.1

Hi,

just picked up kontakt2 yesterday, running pt7.1 on xp.

I have an amd 64 4400 dual core , asus a8n-e 939 mobo, 2gig sdram.

I created an aux track, inserted kontakt, then created a midi channel.

I was able to get sounds, but the kontakt window appearted to freeze a lot. If I clicked to change a window, I would sometimes need to toggle to another window and back to see the change made.

I was able to get sounds. When I tried to record, I couldn't see the scroll bar in PT, and the click track would drop out after a few bars. I couldn't easily select midi data in pt to quantize.

tried changing buffer settings, tried with 1 processor, then two.

Any ideas?

thanks,

bp

Without knowing anything else, I'd say it sounds like a video card issue. I'd look at your video settings and make sure they're in compliance with the general troubleshooting sticky here first...

Do you notice any change in performance when the Kontakt plugin window is closed as opposed to opened?

Make sure you have the latest update for Kontakt as well.
I believe they just released an important update that fixes some bugs.

Why use the old Aux/MIDI track instead of just an instrument strack by the way?

Hi,

Yeah, been reading and have been using the instrument tracks. I also downloaded the latest version of kontakt, but it's stll not really working.

Of course, I tried using sampletank and had the same problem.

I'm using one of those e-mu usb midi controllers; I have it plugged in both usb and the midi out into the 002r, that could be a problem. I'll try that and an older midi controller to see what difference it makes.

I'm unable to select midi data easily, it freezes, and won't select the data when I click and drag, it's weird

could it be a dual core issue?

thanks,
bp
