Default Splitting 40 channel Poly WAVs from Sound Devices

Hi -

I need to split out 40 channel polyWAVs from a Sound Devices 970, and recombine them into 8 channel polyWAVs for a client.

Wave Agent, and every other software I've found (RME, etc) seem to be able to only deal with a max of 32 channels. ProTools will pull in all 40, but is three times slower than Wave Agent, and I have 400 4GB files to process.

Anyone know of any work arounds for this?

Thanks.

Tried Sound Grinder, recognizes 40 channels but won't split them. Barba won't even load the 40 channel wav, and crashed when I tried an 8 channel WAV

Have you tried importing to PT and then using Auto Rename with the correct channel suffix at the end of each file name? (A1,A2...etc)

Yes Erik, as I said, PT works, but slowly. Wave Agent can split a 4GB 32 track WAV in 2 minutes. PT take nearly 8 minutes to do the 40 tracks. Multiply by 400 files, and you can see my eagerness not to have to depend on PT and lose 40 hours!

Man, I don't know. Maybe you can use ProTools and automate it somehow with Quickkeys and let it crunch over the weekend.

If soundgrinder and Barbabatch don't work you may be SOL

Yes Craig - been on the phone with Casey over there, who is talking to the engineers. They apparently can do this on their end, but haven't pushed it out to user yet.

AudiEase assures me that Barba and Snapper can do this. I'll try Snapper today, and Barba again to see if it can deal.

BWF Widget looks okay, but is only PC.

Twisted WAV might work, will check that out too.

Thanks for the input y'all!
