Default Firmware install problems, don't panic, there is an easy solution below

Everyone needs to enjoy this occassion, believe me it is ground breaking. Take your time and relax. Read the FAQ's, related stickies, and the install guide contained in the update. Your minutes away from success. The install works great but it has requirements.

Here are the current problem cuases (ers?).
1. You can not have IE 9 installed.
2. You need the latest drivers.
3. Pro Tool needs to be 8.0.5
4. You may need to search for the zipped folder if your desktop location has been altered. The folder is called "Avid Eleven Rack Updater", so you know exactly what to look for.
5. Use "run as admin" for all installs, especially in Windows Vista.
6. If you're running the FW updater and the bar never starts to move, it means you have a Found New Hardware Wizard in the background somewhere. You need to expose that, then click on "Yes, this time only" and "Find Automatically", and let the Wizard run. Once it finishes, you will see the progress bar start to move.
7. Windows users, make sure you are running the latest Windows service pack.
8. Try a different USB port

If these don't work post a thread and I am sure someone will point you in the right direction.

Also, if you are using Windows XP, (I dual boot into a tried and trusted XP install just for recording) when the “Found new Hardware” dialog comes up, don’t click on cancel like I did! Click on next or whatever it is... you need to let that proceed. This is kind of unexpected because usually with anything protools related you ignore those but now with the firmware upgrade!

If you cancel, the whole procedure hangs but all is still well. Just reboot the 11R and Windows and run it again and away you go!

Man, enough snow up here in Canada all ready! Can anyone tell me a story about warm weather? What is lit like?

Warm weather is similar to what you're experiencing, but less cold.

Thanks for helping our friends out with install issues!

EVERYONE, READ THE FRIKKIN FAQ and the READ-ME! We write these for a reason....
