Default How do you guys use the noise gate?

On some of the higher gain patches, I get a weird trailing-effect, which I think is the noise-gate doing it's thing.

How do you guys have the noise gate set for higher gain patches? Off completely? Or at what settings?

Thanks in advance
Jordan

The trailing effect is the string noise dying down as the gate closes.

There are three things you'd do, in combination, to fix that:

1. Raise the threshold (values closer to zero).

2. Shorten the release time (smaller values).

3. Mute the strings more carefully.

generally i start with the noise gate completely off and try to balance 'response' to 'noise' with my ears, especially if I am playing a part with lots of rest, or what I like to call 'flavor licks'. For rythm tracks that are pretty solid just doing some editing after to remove noise from the 'dead' spots on the track should suffice, slip mode and zoom right in :)

For live use, a gate can take away from performances, especially where long sustained notes are your preference, so use judiciously and get a foot controller or be very good with the volume control on your axe.

11 is an excellent product, can't wait for the exp pack!

I've never been a fan of noise gates, so I turn it off. I wish there was a way to do this globally.
