Default Need help removing guitar string clicking

I'm working on a project and there is a loud string clicking on the bass track. I'm not sure if it is fingernails or something else but I am having a hard time getting it cut or at least lower it enough that it doesn't stand out in the mix. I have tried using a notching filter but still not getting enough cut. Any suggestions?

Retracking would be the first choice, but if that's not an option............

I would try compression first, and then EQ after. You probably won't be able to make it go away just less annoying.

Try a de-esser, sliding the key frequency way down somewhere around 2.5K or 4K. Haven't had occasion to try it on a clicky bass myself, but it sometimes has done the trick on acoustic guitar squeaks, so maybe...

You might want to try the multiband version of the Waves Trans-X plugin. You'd probably want to make just the upper midrange and high bands active, and set the controls in those bands *negative* to pull out the transients.

I use that plugin quite a bit, and for certain things (including this situation, I think) it can be a lot more effective than "normal" dynamics processing.
