Strange 002 behavior

I fired up the 002 and opened a session and the faders started to jiggle back and forth and an error message came up (pro tools is not able to communicate with 002).
This happened repeatedly so I closed the session and quite protools and the 002 continued this behavior by not validating. The 002 just wouldn’t load even in stand alone mode.
After about 15 minutes of this all is well again and the unit is functioning properly. Has anybody have any idea what is up with this?
