what is the mixed ch. ?

hello. i ahave a delta 1010lt and in my i/o setup box there is ch.1-8 for the analog, 9-10 for the s/pdif, and 11-12 mixed. what are the mixed "inputs" for? i have messed around and can't seem to get them to do anything. sorry for the newbie question , i'm still learning. thank you!
