Default Heat

I'm curious about Heat now it will work with HD Native since 12.7.1.

I like the sound that Harrison Mixbus 32c imparts to a mix. I used a real one with Rheinhold Mack in Munich during the early 80's and it sounds very similar. I have Console 1 with the British Class A option. I've used pretty much all of the emulation type plugins from Slate to UAD.

My recent playing with Mixbus 32c led me to wonder about Heat. It's expensive but then so are UAD plugins relative to some.

Can you share your experiences with Heat? Does it impart a big CPU hit? How would you compare it to some of the other usual suspects in this department?

Many thanks,

John

I don't have HD but from what I have heard Heat is a worthy contender. There's plenty of options for similar these days but Heat is a good option for sure. I only wish they would allow the option for us PT Vanilla users

Anyhow, I don't think it sucks up too many cycles but I am sure some Heat owners will chime in...

Default Heat

HD Native users can use Heat

Heat is great and it's super light on CPU...I actually don't even notice the hit.

What sets Heat apart is that it is integrated within the PT mixer.

I used to use VCC but I would have to instantiate it, then tweak the plugin across the session on a per track basis.

Sound wise I don't think anyone is better than another, at this point in the development game they all sound really good.

This is why integration is important....

HEAT is HD-only and confirmed can be used without HDX cards

Use HEAT all of the time and I have to agree that the integration into the mixer is a great feature. Sounds great and is super easy to use. Good to hear that the CPU hit is significantly small. I still use a TDM system and occasionally an HDX system where the cards handle the hit of course.

with that said, it would be great to allow "vanilla" users to use heat too...

HEAT is awesome, it's subtle but as soon as you turn it off in a mix, your mix just loses something

I bought HEAT on e-bay for a song the day it was announced it would work for HDN.

One thing I didn't do was read the little manual before I started using it. Once I watched Dave Hill's video it became a lot more awesome to me than it already was. Simple controls that make a big difference.

I love it.
