Snow Leopard vs Leopard - Pros & Cons

Building up a new drive and have Pro Tools 8 running on Leopard.

I haven't actually recorded a new session on this new system yet and suddenly there is Snow Leopard and a new Pro Tools update for it.

I'm not the kind of person that must have the latest version of everything but since I have not yet tried running a session, I figure it may be worth updating again so I'm not still too far behind the current versions.

Should I stay with Leopard or should I upgrade to Snow Leopard?

Snow leopard has some issues, if you do upgrade, don't go higher than 10.6.2.

If you haven't even run the Leopard you installed then why the concern for Snow Leopard?
Never has the fact that something is more current meant it automatically makes it better.
You should go ahead and use Leopard and upgrade because you need to not because it's available.
Your goal should be a stable system.

Snow leopard 10.6.2 is superstable with pro tools. Actually it is better for me than leopard.
Of course, if you want snow leopard, you should stick with 10.6.2, and only upgrade higher when avid will qualify the new releases.

Snow Leopard 10.6.2 and PTLE 8.0.3 - nice and stable here.

Can surf the internet and print stuff whilst editing in Pro tools etc.... if need be.

Gone are the days of assigning a computer to just run PT. Intel Macs can handle a lot.

The pro of Snow Leopard is that you are ready for any updates from both Apple and other software.

The con is that Mbox orginal is not supported if you're planning to use one. Mbox2 (dark blue) are all compatible.

It's smooth.
