Default 002 to New 003 or to RME Fireface UC ?

Thinking of purchasing a used 003 Rack. Can I just install the used one and use it with my LE 9 and all softwear associated with it? Will it run smoothly? Or should I change and go with the RME Fireface UC? Will there be a considerable sound improvement?
Running on PC,Win 7,64,LE 9, all updates,002 Rack,Command 8.

Thanks

My 003 Rack took some mucking around with to get it up and running smoothly.

You would need to download & install latest 003 drivers. Mine didn't work on integrated firewire so I had to get a pci firewire card (with the supported TI chipset) to get it to work. Remember not to 'hot swap' firewire ie do not unplug or plug device in when computer is turned on.

I haven't used the RME Fireface so can't give you a comparison. What I can say is that now my 003 is running smoothly on Win7 PT9.02 I love it. I have it connected via s/pdif to an eleven rack & they work very well together.

Thnak You I will choose one.

There is one weird thing, I'm getting these ticks or cracks or scratchy sounds while I'm recording audio. I'm using Avalon 737, Avalon U5 and the UAD 712 Twin-Finity. It is not the pre amps. Now could it be the firewire card, since I'm going directly to the MOB.
The other strange thing is that when I'm dragging the screen forward or backward, I'm getting noise, like scratcing noise, as if the screen is going through interference. Strange.

Any ideas?

Thnanks

Last thought.

Is it easy,to change to 002 to the 003, like just plug in and play? Would I have to re install all my softwear?
And is there a significant difference for the sound between the 002 and 003.

Thank You

Purchased a used 003 Rack. I just plugged it in. But, does not work. Do I have to uninstal and reinstall PT 9? Do I have to register the used 003 rack? But it is used. Are there drivers?

Let me know.
Thanks

I believe there are seperate drivers for the 002 and 003 on windows. So you will need to install the right drivers first. Shouldn't have to reinstall pt9 though.
