The S6 will eventually have a Spill feature where plugs can be spread out over the encoders.

How about we let the dang thing get released first!!

Default will EUCON for S6 have "plugin focus" feature?

no you can't

you cannot have the targeted plugin on the surface without having to find it manually on the surface

plugin focus automatically follows whatever plugin you have on your screen at any moment (with target button activated)

You are right about that but eucon actually does this better anyway. Eucon focuses plug ins based on the track selection. So instead of clicking on a tiny insert button in the pro tools GUI, you can just hit the track select button and the plug in focuses. I think that's way faster!

It isn't fast for me. It only works for the first eq/dyn on each track. I am used to ICON/C24/Command8 and I have really large sessions with many plugins. Mouse is the fastest way of bringing up a plugin on screen. And the old Digidesign surfaces follow that selection in focus mode, spilling parameters on knobs/faders. Even Novation Nocturn that costs $99 does that. There is a purpose for the square target button in plugins and Artist Series is missing it entirely.

I'm on the the artist every day. I worked in many studios for years before pro tools was euconized. I know Icons extremely well. I have to disagree. Also your point about the first eq or dynamics plug in isn't true. You can focus an insert as well. So if you have a plug in on insert 3 that you want to focus, just focus that plug in and as you select tracks, you focus that same insert. When I'm using the artist, I rearly use a mouse or keyboard. It's not even in arms reach. Can't do that your way.

Sure, we have different workflows. As I said, there is a purpose for target button in Pro Tools and Eucon could / should catch up.

Now when S6 is already out there in studios I will ask current users: Does insert mode follow plugins that you open/target on Pro Tools screen using mouse? Or is finding and selecting a plugin on the surface the only way, like on S3 and Artist Series?

Yes it does not do that yet and it doesn't do it the way I like either. auto focusing plug ins based on track selections. It will come but not in the current software release. You should just stick with the command 8!

I explained this in an earlier post but I'll do it again. With the artist series, you can have the attention fader follow track selection and Pro Tools select link edit and track selection. This way if you select a track in Pt either with your mouse or with the select tool, that tracks plug in is automatically focused and the artist series has 2 zones, the control and mix so you can auto focus 2 plug ins. So by simply hitting select on the channel, or by dropping your cursor on the track you are working on, you auto focus plug ins. This function sames so much time during a mix it's unreal and you don't need to mouse around at all to focus anything, and its faster.
