Default Auto List of Incompatible Plugins

Hey guys. Hope everyone is keeping safe and healthy?

One useful feature every DAW on the planet (except PT) has, is the ability to scan and provide a list of incompatible plugins upon every launch. Since many of PT's issues (random crashes, stalls, SWODS etc) stem from incompatible/outdated plugins, wouldn't it be completely sensible for Avid to provide this capability?

The present method of emptying the plugin folder and having to reintroduce plugins in small batches is perversely primitive, especially if you have tons of plugins. It's not 100% effective; some plugins will not crash PT immediately but will cause problems later from time to time. This is different from a clear-cut case of particular plugins causing issues as soon as they are opened. To make matters worse, I've read that plugins don't even have to be in a session to cause problems. Without a scan from PT, it's purely guesswork / trial and error.

Let's make a strong request together and get Avid to do this thing once and for all. All ideas to make this possible are welcome. Thanks.

OK. I've done that, though I doubt it will see the light of day without lots of support from other users.

I'd rather have an app that lets me know that there are updates available for my plugins, which would then tell you what's incompatible.

This app worked very well and I remember supporting with PayPal donations.

This would make the Avid Link updater portion a lot easier if it included 3rd party plugins...

Hi nedorama, thanks for the link. I'll download it and see, but I still think Avid should do what every DAW I know does: scan and list incompatible plugins. I think the two things together would be great.

I just checked; it's been discontinued, and apparently only worked on VST for Windows, though the Mac version had AAX.

It did work on AAX, but I should have posted to make it clear it's been discontinued...

Yes. I've been requesting it for ~20 years. They've only implemented Avid plugins and I don't expect that to change. Logic's plugin manager has been very helpful through the years. It's partially responsible for keeping sessions smooth (and cutting back on the need for Apple to beef up their Logic tech support dept.).
