Default Activating track input monitor - freezes PC on session opening

I've searched the interwebs on this and can't find anything! Please help. Every time I try to open one particular session it freezes my computer when it gets to "Activating track input monitor".

This only happens with one session. I opened the session a couple weeks ago just fine, played it for someone and closed it. No changes. Now I can't open it anymore. Here's what I've done so far:

1. Tried opening previous auto session file backups. Even some going a couple months back. None work.
2. Updated PT from 10.3.8 to 10.3.9. Didn't help.
3. Tried opening with a different interface attached than my usual.
4. Tried different HW buffer size.
5. Enabled I/O Setup option - Sessions overwrite current I/O setup when opened

Here's some info on my setup - PT10.3.9 HD, Focusrite Scarlett 18i6 interface, PC (Desktop) - AMD Phenom II X4 Quad-core 3.4 GHz, 8GB DDR2 RAM, Samsung EVO SSD 512GB (OS).

Thanks in advance for any help. Very frustrated. Any ideas?

You said that it was happening in 10.3.8 as well as 10.3.9? If so, 10.3.9 definitely will not help your situation. You migh want to check out this thread http://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=354488 . Sorry that it's not enough info tlo solve your issue but it will help you decide to downgrade back to 10.3.8 before you do anything else.

Also, after downgrading to 10.3.8 if you haven't already you might want to try importing session data from the offending session, one track at a time, into a new session to see if there is a particular corrupted track that is causing the problem.

Yes, you should try this before downgrading IMHO. Also, try opening a session from the Session File Backups folder. It could very well be a plugin on a track causing the problem. Sometimes reinstalling the plugin can help, or there may be an updated version available you could download and install.

Here's another option:

Open Session With All Plug-ins Inactive

This is great for opening sessions quickly to grab a region or check something, without having to load all the plug-ins. This ALSO works in the import session data window which is AMAZING! If you have a large session the last thing you want to do is have the neverending “de-activating” and “re-activating” plug-ins dialogue come up. This lets you bring in tracks quickly without activating plug-ins, but still maintaining all essential automation etc. What a time saver! To use this shortcut, in the “open session” window, or the “import session data” window shift+click on the “open” button and the session will open with all plug-ins inactive.

Dude, you rule so hard! I had no idea this option existed! Session is open! That little trick is going to be a huge time saver! THANK YOU!

That is a great option if you have no need to have the session sound the same as it sounded before the problem became a problem. If, on the other hand, you need to pick up from where you left off you will not be able to do that. It's all situation specific.
