ASIO Driver with Sound Forge??

ASIO Driver and recording in Sound Forge??

anybody get this combo working? Is see that Sonic Foundry Acid Pro 4.0 and Sonic Foundry Vegas 4.0 are list in the tested list, but no Sound forge.

The following programs have been tested with the Digidesign ASIO Driver 6.1.1:

Soundforge ONLY works with the Wavedriver..And if you have any version of PTLe 6x it is only playback..

It is not a DIGI shortcoming it is just not compatable with the ASIO..Sony/Sonic Foundry just don't include the compatability in the software.I have discussed this with them on several occasions.

Sony has told me they might include it in future releases but not to hold my breath.In previous versions of ProTools the Wavedriver was I/O so that was good.Now that the Wavedriver is only a playback device, Sony might get off there butts..

keep in mind Sony is in competion with Digi with Vegas Pro etc... I wouldnt expect them to put a lot of effort into compatibility issues.

Ohhh snap, B you just give me an idea. I now remember that the old wavedriver did work. I'm on a dual boot system with Protools ONLY on one and Sound forge and others on the other. I wonder if I can load up the old driver on the other Win XP boot and make it work? I'll try it out.

Wooooooo, Bad move the first rip. On installing 5.3 on the other partition I got some kind of midi error, installer locked up, screen went blank. My heart was hurt. But XP did not lock up. I hit the stsrt key(keyboard) and XP was there. So went to restart and try again, but holy smokeeee, XP did not boot , that is on that partittion. It did let me startup on the Protools partition, but not the other one I was doing the 5.3 wavedrive on. I tried to repair it a few times from the XP cd, with no luck. So I guess you know how the story goes...."Fresh REINSTALL".

But after going thorough all that, I did get the 5.3 wavedriver working, for record and playback in Sound Forge. I installed PT 5.3 and then the wavedriver. Then I reinstalled all the Windows updates too and the rest of the programs.......ya all the time i put into this . It also worked with Media Player, and Real One Player(6.x doesn't). Now all that is left to do is re-excite myself about the good idea

Docta J..Just opened up the page and there you are..Glad to hear you didn't nuke your system to bad hehehe..Ya got to wonder if it's all worth it.I've been using Wavelab since the 6x upgrade and like it better anyways, so it's gonna be Sony's loss if they don't include ASIO support with Soundforge.
