Default multi sidechaining

as a dance producer sidechaining is a big part of most of my productions i have just brought smack witch is a top compresser i must say one of the best !. my Q: is this i want to assine about 4 track to the compresser to be sidechained can i use just the one instance of smack? if so how do i rout all my tracks to it? do i put the compresser on a aux track and bus the 4 track to the aux track ? im a tad confussed and scaning throw the fourm i cant seem to find any info ?

Been a while since I've done anything like that, but if you'll check your Reference Manual it's all explained there.

iv checked in the manual and it"s not in their , and it seems to be a very hard one to track down but thanks anyway.

So you want 4 tracks to be affected by the sidechain?

Or you want to trigger the sidechain with 4 tracks?

you need to put an instance of smack on each track you want squashed and set the sc input an available bus, then use a send from the track you want to trigger the compressor and set the send to the same bus as the track you want compressed. I used it recently on a guitar track when the performer wanted his guitar in you face, but his wife wanted his voice more up front, so I put a comp on the guitar, side chained from the vocal track so when he sings, the guitar gets quieter. I used waves new h-comp cause it has a real nice vu meter to help see whats going on...but use your ears mostly.

ps i bet you can find some videos on vimeo or utube, try "side chaining in pro tools"

i have looked on you tube a lot but it seams sidechaining is a rear thing to find how to do . to the last post i want one compresser to affect 4 tracks ,thanks guys!
